Uniform Regulations

Basic Uniform Regulations for Marine Corps League members -

It’s not hard to understand.  We had uniform regulations to follow during our time in the Marine Corps, and we have uniform regulations to follow during our time in the Marine Corps League.  If we didn’t have regulations – we would all look like a bunch of shit-birds with all sorts of who-haws and ding-dongs hanging from our blouses and covers.

First, the basic uniform is the cover (that’s the thing you put on your head.)  It looks like this - cover_detachment-u1

The color for each detachments is red.

Department officers wear red and gold and national officers wear gold – see pictures below -

Simple.  If you get to be National Commandant, you wear white, but don’t worry about that for awhile.

Nothing is pinned on your cover.  The EGA (eagle/globe/anchor) is on the left side with embroidered MCL logo.  It should be noted that the ONLY EGA allowed on the Marine Corps League cover is the gold anodized shown below.  Don’t get caught with the officer EGA on your cover!

On the right is a strip/patch stating the detachment name.  The detachment name may also be embroidered.  If you hold an elected or appointed office, you get another patch, If you’re a life member you get another patch.  If you’re a Devil Dog, that patch goes on your cover too.  That’s it.  Don’t you dare pin anything else on there or we’ll laugh and giggle and point fingers at you.

When you are wearing the cover you are in uniform. Everything else just makes you look better.

There are four (4) types of full uniform.

Just for clarification, Undress DOESN’T mean NO CLOTHES!
